M.A.C. Grad Event 2010

Complections grads were treated to another amazing event at the M.A.C. Bloor Street location, where Senior Artist Jane McKay gave a trend seminar for the lucky attendees; she created a gorgeous "runway inspired" look on graduate Daniela Polla.

Grads also had the opportunity to meet with the Regional Recruiter, Vanessa Kong, to show her their resumés and learn more about career opportunities at M.A.C. Another amazing night of support for our wonderful alumni!

Triple Threat

From June 17th until the 26th, the play Triple Threat runs at the Berkley Theatre in downtown Toronto. Complections is a sponsor of the show, and one of our extremely talented graduates, Andrée-Ann Boisvert, designed the make-up for the show.

Fashion Panel Lunch & Learn

On June 8th, Complections welcomed a panel of the Canadian fashion industry’s key members to give a talk on organizing fashion creatives. Tracy Brown, a booker with renowned agency Judy INC, stylist extraordinaire Amy Lu, and photographer Maxime Bocken (Today’s Bride, Z!nk) sat down with a group of students to speak about their individual roles in putting together photo shoots, and how they work with make-up artists to create the gorgeous images we see in magazines and advertisements. Students were also able to ask questions and learn about the exciting industry they will enter after graduation.

Complections at IMATS

Congratulations to Kenji Sato who won the Beauty/Fantasy competition at the Vancouver IMATS Student Competition! His lovely work was based on the theme of Alice In Wonderland.

Lunch & Learn with Kristin Ma

Complections grad Kristen Ma stopped by for another successful Lunch & Learn. She discussed being an entrepreneur in the beauty business, offered helpful advice to the students, and spoke about her recently published book, Beauty 2.0.

M.A.C. PRO Graduate Event

On Tuesday, July 14th, Complections grads were treated to an evening at the M.A.C Pro store on Bloor Street. They had the chance to watch a trend demo by Melissa G., a Senior M.A.C. artist, and then meet with the Regional Recruiter for Ontario. We wish our graduates the best of luck, and extend our many thanks to M.A.C. for their continued support of Complections and its students.

Lunch & Learn with Adriana Ermter

Adriana Ermter, Beauty Director for FASHION Magazine, stopped by the Complections campus on June 16th for an informative Lunch & Learn session. Adriana told a group of hopeful fashion artists about her experience in the industry, what she looks for in a make-up artist, and offered helpful tips for artists aspiring to work in the competitive field of fashion editorial make-up.

Complections hosted a rooftop Meet & Greet for students on May 21st, as a way of welcoming the new student body and promoting the ever-important networking skills needed to succeed in make-up artistry. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future!

Brazilian Ball

On April 25th, eight students and recent graduates of Complections worked backstage for the prestigious Brazilian Ball held at the Royal York Hotel. In attendance were Toronto's gliteratti, and HRH Prince Andrew hosted the fundraiser. An annual event started in the 1960s, the Ball raised over 2 millions dollars for the Hospital for Sick Kids this year.
