Courses | Theatrical Makeup | Complections International Academy of Make-up Artistry Theatrical Makeup The Theatrical Make-up course prepares make-up artists for the performing arts field including theatre, opera, ballet, concerts and more. Students begin by learning the theory and principles of make-up for stage. The types of theatre layout and technical terminology, script breakdown, face charts and make-up design accounting for distance and different lighting effects are all examined. Students then learn the creation of three-dimensional features using highlight and contour, straight stage make-up for men and women, aging (moderate and extreme), gender reversal and distortion, and character make-ups including Egyptian, Kabuki, Chinese Opera, Geisha, animal and tribal. There is also a lesson on Latex bald caps and bald pates: the production of, preparation of the performer for wearing, application, colouration, removal and clean up.
